Announcements January 31st and February 1st, 2026

Each week, our goal to meet our parish needs is $3000.00. Last week’s collection totaled $2,753.00, and our second collection for Latin America totaled $570.00. Thank you for your faithful offerings.

Thank you to all those who came out and supported our Knights of Columbus bingo on Friday. We only have two more Fridays left this year, the 6th and the 13th. Doors open at 6:00 pm, and games begin at 6:30. Concessions will be served starting at 6 pm.

A BIG thank you to all those who helped withthe 2026 spaghetti dinner, through donations and our many volunteers, as well as all those who came out to enjoy the great meal. With your help, we served 684 this year.

Ash Wednesday is on February 18th this year. We will have two Masses - our normal daily Mass at 8:30 am, and a bilingual Mass at 6:00 pm.

The next Knights of Columbus blood drive will be on Feb 16th from 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm The blood our parish has collected can go anywhere in the US, with recent donations going as far as New York City, Nampa, Idaho, and Worcester, Massachusetts. This really is the gift of life to many! Please consider coming out to help those in need. Each year, the diocese holds an annual Diocesan Council of Catholic Women convention. All women of the St James Parish are invited and encouraged to attend this year's Council of Catholic Women convention, to be held in Salt Lake City at the Little America Hotel on April 18th and 19th. Our own Eastern Deanery is this year's convention host. The theme is "Believe in the Eucharist: Blessed, Broken, Shared." The program is designed to promote our spiritual encounter and renewal. It's a great opportunity to meet other women throughout the state and experience the friendships of other Catholic women. St James CCW can offer financial help to one woman if there is a need. Please contact Linda Mitchell for information on how to apply for financial aid. We would love to see a great turnout from St James parish. For further information, you may contact Linda Mitchell. See the bulletin for her contact information. During the convention, each Parish’s Women of the Year are honored during a banquet on Saturday night. The Woman of the Year Award is given in recognition of a woman who goes above and beyond in service to her parish. All parishioners are invited to nominate this year’s St. James the Greater Women of the Year. Starting next weekend, we will have nomination forms in the pews and at both entrances of the church. Please fill out a form and drop it into a box located at either entrance. Nominations will be accepted February 7th and 8th, and again on February 14th and 15th. The next Parish Council meeting will be on Monday, February 2, at 6 pm in the religious education building.

Starting Friday, February 20th, we will be having Mass and Stations of the Cross, followed by a small Lenten meal provided by CCW. Mass will begin at 5:30 pm with stations at 6:00 pm. There will be no morning (8:30) am Mass on Fridays during Lent. If you are interested in donating food for the meal that follows station,s please contact Linda Mitchell, Roxanne Burman, Lisa Stringer, or Vicki Meyers

We will begin distributing the Rice bowls next weekend. Look for yours to take home. Rice Bowls will be collected starting Holy Week.

Magnificat Lenton companions are available in both English and Spanish at both entrances of the church. Please pick up your copy starting this week after Mass.

Cada semana, nuestro objetivo para satisfacer las necesidades de nuestra parroquia es de 3000,00 dólares. La colecta de la semana pasada ascendió a un total de 2753,00 dólares, y nuestra segunda colecta para América Latina ascendió a un total de 570,00 dólares. Gracias por sus fieles ofrendas.

Gracias a todos los que vinieron y apoyaron nuestro bingo de los Caballeros de Colón el viernes. Solo nos quedan dos viernes más este año, el 6 y el 13. Las puertas se abren a las 6:00 p. m. y los juegos comienzan a las 6:30 p. m. Se servirán aperitivos a partir de las 6 p. m.

Muchísimas gracias a todos los que ayudaron con la cena de espagueti 2026, a través de donaciones y nuestros numerosos voluntarios, así como a todos los que vinieron a disfrutar de la estupenda comida. Con su ayuda, este año hemos servido 684 comidas.

El Miércoles de Ceniza es el 18 de febrero de este año. Tendremos dos misas: nuestra misa diaria habitual a las 8:30 a. m. y una misa bilingüe a las 6:00 p. m.

La próxima campaña de donación de sangre de los Caballeros de Colón será el 16 de febrero, de 12:00 p. m. a 6:00 p. m. La sangre que ha recogido nuestra parroquia puede ir a cualquier lugar de los Estados Unidos, y las donaciones recientes han llegado hasta Nueva York, Nampa (Idaho) y Worcester (Massachusetts). ¡Esto es realmente un regalo de vida para muchos! Por favor, consideren venir a ayudar a los necesitados. Puede concertar una cita descargando la aplicación de la Cruz Roja Americana y programando una hora, o llamando a Brad Lanney para fijar una hora. Cada año, la diócesis celebra una convención anual del Consejo Diocesano de Mujeres Católicas. Se invita y anima a todas las mujeres de la parroquia de St James a asistir a la convención del Consejo de Mujeres Católicas de este año, que se celebrará en Salt Lake City, en el hotel Little America, los días 18 y 19 de abril. Nuestro decanato oriental es el anfitrión de la convención de este año. El tema es «Creer en la Eucaristía: bendecida, partida, compartida». El programa está diseñado para promover nuestro encuentro espiritual y nuestra renovación. Es una gran oportunidad para conocer a otras mujeres de todo el estado y experimentar la amistad de otras mujeres católicas. St James CCW puede ofrecer ayuda económica a una mujer si es necesario. La próxima reunión del Consejo Parroquial será el lunes 2 de febrero a las 6 de la tarde en el edificio de educación religiosa.

A partir del viernes 20 de febrero, tendremos misa y Vía Crucis, seguidos de una pequeña comida de Cuaresma proporcionada por CCW. La misa comenzará a las 5:30 p. m. y el Vía Crucis a las 6:00 p. m. No habrá misa matutina (8:30 a. m.) los viernes durante la Cuaresma. Si está interesado en donar comida para la comida que sigue al Vía Crucis, póngase en contacto con Linda Mitchell, Roxanne Burman, Lisa Stringer o Vicki Meyers.

Comenzaremos a distribuir los cuencos de arroz el próximo fin de semana. Busque el suyo para llevárselo a casa. Los cuencos de arroz se recogerán a partir de la Semana Santa.
